The next step for me was finishing the canoe, and then attaching the fuselaage cone. Before I could do that, I needed to attach the roll bar, and rear cabin bulkhead. As I was going to fit an Autopilot to this aircraft, it was fortunate that the cone had not already been fitted, as Vanss issued a SB(Service Bulletin) to make changes to the reat autpilot servo bracket. This was much easier done before the cone was attached, it must have been quite difficult for those builders who had already attached the cone when the SB came out.

Part of the instructions for completing the fuselage involved running much of the wiring harness , and brake lines, down the centre of the cockpit. At this stage, the canoe was fairly light, so it was much easier to turn on its side to do this work at head height, rather than trying to reach over the sides of the fuselage to gain access. The SB picture above relates to another SB issued by Vans, that require the stabilator brackets to be removed and reinforced. Another SB called for the horns on the trim tabs to be replaced, again a task easier done at this stage of assembley
